I got two new academy players and was extremely happy with the stats they had for the wages they asked for, but when I hired them they both had slightly different stats and more than double the wage asked for. Is this a known issue or am I missing something about how the academy works?

It's a bug and I think they know about it.

That the wage increases is actually kinda how it is supposed to work. Henri added some hidden features like gear etc. to make the player selection a bit harder if I recall right! I assume that the stats are lowered is a bug (happened to me too) .

Well the wage increase should be happening. Like Henri said, some players ask more money for the same stats as others because of the hidden factor "greed". That doesnt mean that it shouldnt show the initial wages in the beginning because you cant manage your finances correctly that way. in addition my wage went from 700 to 2100, which is unreasonably high.

Yes, there is a hidden greed stat, when you start negotiating with the player it might ask for more money.
