So, after using this and talking to Ed a bit in the chat, the ideas gave me a great starting point which today led me to beating someone that has player elo's 1k above mine in 3 tournament games!

This advice let me to a perfect 18/0 season! Granted its division 5 and over half my games were won via no valid strategy, but that's not the point.
